Flashman’s
Retreat
Retreat · Rest · Regroup
A secluded woodland cabin for two, hidden among the trees at Throstle Nest.
Throstle Nest · Nidderdale
A long way from the frontline.
Flashman’s Retreat is a three-storey woodland cabin created as somewhere to escape, slow down and temporarily disappear from normal life.
Built in the spirit of the tiny-house movement, it is deliberately compact, individual and slightly adventurous.
This is not a hotel room transplanted into the countryside. It is a small outpost in the woods, surrounded by trees, stone walls, horses and the landscape of Nidderdale.

by design.

Above is the sleeping deck and reading nook; below, the covered outdoor deck provides space for eating, cooking and sitting beside the fire.

Fire, food
and fresh air.
Eat beneath the cabin, light the charcoal grill or spend the evening beside the fire bowl as the woodland grows dark.
An Ooni pizza oven can also be made available by arrangement.
There is no programme, no timetable and very little that you need to do.

Reconnaissance
In the heart of Nidderdale.
Flashman’s Retreat sits in a secluded corner of Spring Wood at Throstle Nest Farm, close to Summerbridge in North Yorkshire.
Local footpaths lead directly into the Nidderdale countryside, while Pateley Bridge, Ripley and Harrogate are within easy reach.
The cabin is reached by a short walk through the woodland from the designated parking area.
Before you deploy
A retreat with character.
Flashman’s Retreat is deliberately unconventional. The sleeping level is reached by a ladder and the cabin uses an external staircase between levels.
It is therefore best suited to guests comfortable with steps, ladders and compact spaces.
The cabin accommodates a maximum of two adults and is not suitable for children or infants.
