Tucked into a private corner of the farmyard, Yeoman’s Retreat occupies part of a traditional stone building dating from 1701.
Self-contained and secluded, it is a place for two: somewhere to read, work, walk, cook, sleep and, above all, enjoy the unusual luxury of quiet.
The building has evolved over more than three centuries and has retained its character in the process. Old stone, low beams and unexpected changes of level sit alongside the simple comforts needed for a countryside retreat.

Enter from the yard through a utility entrance and down into the kitchen and dining room — the practical heart of the retreat.
Off it lies a separate sitting room, with a comfortable sofa, books and music: somewhere intentionally suited to doing very little.
A spiral staircase leads upstairs to a TV room and workspace, and onwards to the bedroom.

The king bedroom sits beneath the structure of the old building, retaining its low beams and distinctly individual proportions.
It is not a newly built room pretending to be old. Its irregularities are part of the pleasure of
staying here.

A characterful old building
Worth knowing before you stay
Yeoman’s occupies part of a historic Listed Building. Its character comes with some practical consequences: there are steps, a narrow doorway, a spiral staircase and low beams in the bedroom.
For that reason the accommodation is not suitable for guests requiring step-free or fully accessible
accommodation.
The old stone parts of the building can also take longer to warm than a modern house — another small reminder that this is a genuinely old building rather than a reproduction.
